Lakes in Waterford Michigan 

Are you dreaming of a lake home?  Are you looking in Oakland County and have included Waterford MI as one of your possible choices?  There are about 34 lakes that are good size in Waterford Michigan. There are many different lakes that vary from private or public and non all sports lakes to all sports lakes.  It is the same way with lakefront homes in Waterford.  There are lake houses that were built in the 1920's all the way up to the present time.  There are tiny 700 square foot ranches to newer brick homes that range from 2500 square foot to over 5000 square feet.   About 4.0 square miles of Waterford, or 11.22%, is water.  There are many parks that have access to the lakes, including the Pontiac Lake State Recreation Area, Dodge Brothers State Park and Waterford Oaks county park.

A few of these lakes are in other cities too as the community boundaries run thru the center of the lake.  One of those that have multiple communities is Cass Lake.  Cass Lake is Oakland County largest lake at 1280 acres.

Fiddle lake homes have 1 - 2 acres and have an up north feeling.   Mohawk, Wormer, Schoolhouse are part of a small chain of lakes that connects to Loon Lake.

Waterford Township Michigan was established in 1834 and is centrally located in Oakland County with a population of 71,707.  Waterford Township calls itself a “Lakeland Paradise.”

There are many beautiful lakes in Waterford Michigan.  Most of the lakefront homes are year round homes.  There are some lakefront homes that some people just come out to on the weekends.

Waterford has higher elevation than Detroit (982 feet) compared to 585 feet, and therefore the township is cooler than Detroit and other local cities.
