I myself live on the lake year round. I love it! I would call it a peaceful lake in a subdivision atmosphere. The roads around the lake just got re-paved in 2013. It is a limited all sports lake that means no jet skis or in board motors are allowed. So big ski boats like a malibu or master craft are not on the lake. It is a great lake to raise kids and teach them to water ski on. There is not a lot of boat traffic on the lake. I have seen children swimming across the lake on noodles and no worry of being run over.
There are three islands on the lake and multiple bays which is nice for traveling around on the pontoon. There is a neighborhood park. The lake is spring fed but the level is also kept up by well pumps.

ORCHARD LAKE Orchard Lake is not private, so there is plenty of boating, but the homes are so nice and large that waterfront residents will definitely enjoy their time on and off the lake.
PONTIAC LAKE in Oakland County is a large public all sports lake. It has 2 marinas and a large state park on it. There are also a low end motel and small apartments on the lake.
VOORHEIS LAKE Most of the homes around the lake are brick homes with paved streets in a true subdivision atmosphere. It is like Lake Sherwood in Commerce, or Tull Lake in White Lake or the east side of Loon Lake in Waterford.
