For luxurious waterfront homes on one of Oakland County, Michigan’s largest lakes, check out Orchard Lake in Orchard Lake Village, Michigan. At 788 acres and a maximum depth of 110 feet, this large body of water is perfect for all-kinds of boating, including all-sports watercraft. Because it is such a large lake, Orchard Lake is not private, so there is plenty of boating, but the homes are so nice and large that waterfront residents will definitely enjoy their time on and off the lake. Orchard Lake is a great place for people who truly enjoy waterfront living right in Michigan.
Orchard Lake is a highly desirable lake. There are many luxury lakefront estates there. What is unique about Orchard Lake is that some of the houses on three sides of the lake sit across a road from the lake. Usually there are small patches of grass on the other side of road. That has not stopped mega mansions and homes ranging from 3000 to 10,000 being built on the other side of the road. I would guess about 25% of the waterfront homes on Orchard Lake sit on the other side of the road.
There is a big island called Apple Island on the lake. The island is not private owned. There is a public access on the lake located off Orchard Lake Rd. You are not going to find many small lake cottages on the lake. Most of the homes are larger and have spacious lots.
