How would I describe Seymour Lake in Oakland County?  It is a peaceful and quiet lake north of Clarkston.  It is an electric motor only.   Usually this means the lake is cleaner because gas and oil is not polluting the lake.

Seymour Lake homes are average size homes.  This is another lake that really does not have mega mansions on it.   I have a great story about Seymour Lake.  I pulled up to a house to talk the owner and find out more about the lake because they were doing outside work.   Amazingly the lady's house I pulled up to was a lady that I had gone to Michigan State with 43 years ago.  It gets to be a very small world. I try to gather as much information as possible about the lake by doing research on the MLS and by talking to local lake residents.  Here are the features and facts of homes on Seymour Lake that they sold in the last ten years. 

The children that live on the lake goes to Brandon Schools.  The lakefront homes on Seymour lake have one to five bedrooms and one to three and a half bathrooms.   Yes there are still some cottages left on the lake.  Seymour Lake homes range in size from 780 square foot to over 3240 square feet.  Most of the homes are under 2000 square feet.

The lake home styles are cape cods, colonials, split level homes, contemporary homes.  The homes were built between 1930 to the present.   Some of the lake homes have no garage up to 2 1/2 car garage.  Streets around the lake are paved and gravel.  The homes are on septic systems and wells. The are quite a few homes that sit on lots over an acre on lake.  Some of the parcel sizes are 2, 4, & 6 acres.   

Seymour Lake Ortonville MI Information

Seymour Lake is a private all sports lake.  Depending on who you believe the lake is either 67 or 69 acres in size.  It is a quiet electric motor only lake.  You cannot have a jet ski, or power boat on the lake. It is basically a no wake lake.

How deep Seymour Lake is up to debate also.  One source say 19 feet somebody on lake another says 35 feet deep.  There is no public beach, no marina, no ski course, or no condominiums on the lake.  They say the lake is relatively shallow.  It's a great lake to fish, paddleboard or kayak on.  There are no canals or islands on the lake.  The lake lies entirely in Brandon Township though people say Ortonville.  The children on the lake go to Brandon School District.

It is a spring fed lake though there is a small creek/stream on the north side of the lake.
