Huff Lake Homes Ortonville MI

Huff Lake homes are on bigger lots and there are not many homes on the lake.  There are only 14 lakefront homes on the lake.  Some of them are large lake homes.  I will share with you the basic features of the Huff Lake waterfront homes in Ortonville.  They have four to five bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms to three and a half bathrooms, and two to five car garages. 

The waterfront homes were built during the years of 1988 -2001.   All the homes have basements and they range in size from 1700 square feet to about 5000 square feet. The lake home styles are ranches, contemporary, and colonial homes.  From the research I did I saw homes that sat on a 6 acre, 7 acre, and 23 acre lots and there are others that are good sized too.  All the lake houses are on well & septic.  There are no condominiums on the lake.....only single family residences.

Huff Lake is just a small private all sports lake that is 42 acres in size.  The deepest part of the lake is about 60 feet deep.  I looked up the lake on the DNR website to see if there were any lake laws but there were none.  No wake restrictions even on the canal going to Lake Louise.  

You can see the lake as you head north on the right side of the road.  I have never seen a boat on the lake whenever I pass by.  Not even a fishing boat. Huff Lake and Lake Louise are connected by a small canal.  You can go from one lake to another via boat.  Neither lake is too large.  There are only 85 homes on the two lakes.  There is quite a bit of natural shoreline.  You can see the cat tails on the opposite shores in my pictures. 

There is no public beach, no public access, nor any public DNR launch site on either lake.  Of course there is no marina on the lake or water ski course on the lake.  I do not even know if there is a marina on any lake in Oakland County.

The area is rural though if you live on the lake you will find a good sized grocery store a few miles north.  There is a liquor store and Bull Frogs bar & grill very close by. Just a short distance away you will find other restaurants, liquor stores, and gas station.  The lake is spring fed and fed by Lake Louise and Kearsley Creek from the north.

I would say that this lake or Lake Louise really is not big enough for anybody that is going to be a very active water sports person.  Huff Lake is going to be really quiet in terms of boat traffic as it is not big enough.  There may be an occasional tuber but they are more likely to go through the canal to Lake Louise.       

Huff Lake Location

Huff Lake is located in Brandon Township in Oakland County.  The lake is just to the east of M-15 (Ortonville Rd).  You can see the lake and the sign for the lake when driving up M-15.  The lake is a couple of miles south of Ortonville and north of Clarkston and I-75.

We have some great all sports lakes in Oakland County, though you may want a bigger all sports lake or an electric motor lake.  We have Softwater Lake in Clarkston MI or Dixie Lake in Clarkston MI.
