Earl Lake is a private all sports lake located in Oceola Township which people refer to as Howell. There are no wake restrictions that I know of. One of the lake residents said they measured the depth with their anchor rope and it was about 40 feet deep in the deepest spot. There is no public DNR launch, no public beach, no marina, no restaurant, and no water ski course on the lake. The lake is only accessible by the lake residents.
The streets around the lake are paved so you never have to worry about dusty, muddy, or bumpy gravel road. There is one small canal on the lake that connects to a small bay. The source of the water for Earl Lake is spring fed and from Thompson Lake. The children on the lake go to Howell school district.
Earl Lake near Howell Michigan is just a small private all sports lake. There are about 52 parcels on the lake. There are still quite a few lake lots that have not been built on. I do not know if it is because the lake frontage is bad or if the lots are bad. As I always say you really have to do a lot of due diligence before you buy and close on a vacant lake lot.

It is an all sport lake that is too small for any big water sports enthusiast. You basically have to have the steering wheel turned on your speed boat because all you are going to be doing is going around in small circles. So you are not going to find many speed boats or jet skiis on the lake. It may be ok for a occassional or a short tubing trip or a short waterski ride. But if you want to do it alot I would recommend a bigger lake like Duck Lake in Highland Michigan or Lake Sherwood in Commerce MI

I did research on Earl Lake homes from 10 years of sold homes on the MLS. This information below does not include the homes that have not sold. There are no condominiums on the lake. Depending on which house it is some homes are on well water and others have city water. It is the same way with septic and sewers. Some of the homes have sewers and some have septic systems.
Here are the basic characteristics of lakefront homes on Earl Lake. The homes have 3-4 bedrooms, and 1-3 bathrooms. The homes were built between the year 1968 to present day. Some homes have basements some do not as they are level with the lake. If the house is level with the lake and you cannot have a lake because the basement would flood.

The two main home styles are ranches and colonials. The rough sizes of the homes are 1400 square foot to 2500 square feet though there is one that sold in 4455 square foot. The majority of the homes on the lake are just normal sized homes. There are lots on the lake that the homes sit on sit that are over an acre on lake. A couple that I looked at on the map were over 2 acres and one is about 16 acres.
If you are looking to buy a home on Earl Lake you will find most of them are just average homes other than the one big waterfront home.
