The homes on the lake are a mixture of colonials, cape cods, ranches, bungalows, and even split levels.  On some parts of the lake the homes are close together.  However there are some homes that sit on lots over an acre.  There are even two homes that sit on 9.7 acres and 11.25 acres.  Many of the homes on the lake are under 2000 square feet. 

Some of the homes on Whitmore Lake were built during the years of 1920 - 1950's, but there are two homes on the lake that were built in 1890 and 1911.  I did notice one more home that was built in 1870.  There are many homes that were built after the 1950's.   There have been many that have been torn down and new homes rebuilt where the old ones stoods.  Some even as late as 2015. 

Whitmore Lake homes have one to six bedrooms, and one to five and a half bathrooms.  Some of the waterfront homes have no garages because there is no room on the lot for a garage and some homes have up to a four car garage. There are no huge luxury lakefront estates on the lake.  There are no condominiums on the lake either.  If you are waiting for that perfect Livingston County lake foreclosure you may want to look at lake short sales. You may find a move in ready lake short sale in better condition than the lake foreclosures.

This website shows up on the first page of google for over 200 Southeastern Michigan lakes and for over 5000 Michigan lake terms.  No other Southeastern Michigan realtor's lake website does that.  That means when you go to sell your home it will get viewed more than any other website.  So give us a call to go over your marketing plan.

Whitmore Lake Whitmore Lake Washtenaw County MI

Whitmore Lake is a public all sports lake that is 677 acres in size.  The deepest spot on the lake is 69 feet deep.  I do not know the average depth but most of the lake is under 20 feet deep.  There is a public DNR boat launch on the north side of the lake on North Shore Dr.

There are no wake restrictions or lake hours that I know of.  There is Mac's marina on the lake.. The lake is spring fed. There are no islands, no public beach, and no state approved water ski course on the lake that I know of.  The roads around the lake are both paved and gravel.  There are some lake access homes that have an out lot on the lake. 

 Whitmore Lake was named by Jonathan F. Stratton, a surveyor, after Luke H. Whitmore, a local landowner around 1825.  A public access boat launch is located on N. Shore Road in Green Oak Township.  The Public Access is managed under Michigan DNR's Island Lake Recreation Area.  A Recreation Passport/parking fee is required for use of this parking area and boat launch.

The Whitmore Lake Harvest Festival is a two day event that occurs annually at the end of September, and was first established in 2007. The primary function of the 2009 Harvest Festival was to adopt a pet or donate money towards that cause.

As a lake realtor I feel it is very important for you the lake home buyer to know as much about the lake you are buying on.  When I first started in this business there was no one spot to find out about our local Oakland County and Livingston County Lake.  So I put this website together so you can find the information you need.  Lake home buying is a little tougher than buying a regular home.  Not only do you have to find the home you want but you also have to find the right lake, and the right lake bottom too.  So it gets a little trickier.  So if your realtor is not asking you about what you want to do on the lake, or what type of boat you are thinking of getting then you DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT lake specialist REALTOR to buy a lake front home.  Knowing what you want to do on the lake is important. 

You may want to fish, or maybe swim with the grandkids.  Or you may want to tube or wakeboard.   We do not want you on a small lake if you love tubing and wakeboard with family and friends.  You need the space to do that.  So I home the information below on lake homes on Whitmore Lake in Northfield Twp. Michigan gives you a glimpse of what to look for in a lake. 

There is a page on the State of Michigan website that has all the laws pertaining to in lnland Lakes.  I have tried to put and add lake rules whenever I find out about them.  Most southeastern Michigan lakes are governed by the normal lake rules and regulations.  So lakes are non-motorized or electric motor only.  But you will know that before buying on the lake.

Here are some of the normal rules and regulations of our local lakes.  Boat traffic goes counter clockwise on the lake.  You should stay 100 feet from the shore especially if you are making a wake.  (Remember you are rocking everybody's boats.  You can't tow somebody behind a boat before dawn or after dusk.  Basically not in the dark.  If you are at least 16 years of age and born after December 31, 1978, may operate a Personal water craft legally only if they have obtained a boating safety certificate.

Most boats have a sticker of how much weight and how many people can be on the boat at one time.  You must have life preservers for each person on the boat too.  Most lakes have no speed limits on them.  There are only a few that do in our local area.

Most private lakes in Southeastern Michigan do not have a sheriff on the lake unless they are called.  Many of the bigger public all sports lakes will have a sheriff on the lake on the weekends.  It depends on the county and the county's budget as how often they are out there.

I did some research on Oakland County  and Livingston County Lakes and added all the lake laws I could find on Michigan's website.
