LOON LAKE WIXOM MICH

For a quiet and private, but fun lake, Loon Lake in Wixom, Michigan is the place to be for a waterfront home, or otherwise.  There are many waterfront homes on the lake, but there is also a park with lake access for residents of homes that are not directly on the water.  Loon Lake is an all-sports lake, but there are some reasonable restrictions to keep the atmosphere peaceful for these waterfront residents.  At 78 acres, it is an average size lake that is a great place to live in Wixom, Michigan.

There are two Loon Lakes in Oakland County Michigan.  The other Loon Lake in Waterford Michigan is a larger public lake where Loon Lake in Wixom is a small private 78 acre all sports lake.  It has easy highway access to I-696 about 10 minutes down Wixom Road which makes it nice for lake residents to get to work.   One issue with some of the lakefront properties is that there is a high water table.  I once showed a house on the lake that had a basement when it was raining.  The water was just pouring in the basement.  Sometimes the lots are what I would call squisy, or soggy.  There are just a few of them that are like that but be carefully and understand the issues of buying a home with a high water table.

There is a newer subdivision on the north side of the lake that has bigger brick colonials that were built in the late 1990's and early 2000's.   Some of them will have finished walkout basements too. On the south and west side you will find smaller homes.  Ranches and bungalows built in the 1970's.  Many of them will be on slabs or crawl spaces.

WAUMEGAH LAKE is completely private, so these waterfront residents have the benefit of living on a fun lake, while maintaining their peace.  Waumehgah Lake in Springfield Township, Michigan is a great place for waterfront home-seekers to check out.

WOODHULL LAKE  itself is private, but Oakland Lake has public access, so waterfront residents should expect some extra traffic, but not as much as a completely public lake.
