Lakefront homes on West Bloomfield Lake in West Bloomfield MI
This is what I call a subdivision lake because all the homes are similar. There are no old cottages on this lake. The homes are all similar in age, style. The subdivision is called West Bloomfield Lake Estates and this little lake lies right in the middle of the subdivision. There are only 28 homes on the lake.
Little lakes like West Bloomfield do not add much value to the home. You are not going to find that the lakefront homes on the lake are going to be $50,000 to $200,000 more than a home off the lake. West Bloomfield Lake is not a lake that would demand that kind of price. Most lake home buyers would not even consider the lake. I would say that it is just an added benefit to the home owner, but not a lake that they seek out. It is not cost you a lot more money to live on West Bloomfield Lake as compared to buying a home on Upper Straits Lake or Cass Lake. There are only single family residences on the lake. There are no condominiums on the lake. If you are looking for a condo on a lake West Bloomfield has other lakes that have lakefront condos.
West Bloomfield Lake homes range in size from 3000 square foot to 4400 square foot in size. As you can see from the pictures the homes are on the larger size. The subdivision and the lake homes were built during the years of 1971-1980. Depending on the lake home they have three to five bedrooms, two to four bathrooms, and two to three car garages. All the homes have basements unlike older lake homes on some of the lakes. They all have attached garages and brick or stone exteriors. The homes are on city water and sewer so you do not have to deal with water softeners and salt. 
Many lake home buyers like lake homes in a subdivision. They like a lake that has similar homes around it and no dumpy old or little cottages on it. When a home is in a subdivision the homes and the properties are usually more well maintained. They don't have old snowmobiles around them, or junky cars. West Bloomfield Lake in West Bloomfield may be for you if you are happy with a small non all sports lake that will draw wildlife. You may just love the peace that the water gives you. You won’t be skiing, tubing, or wake boarding on this lake. It is way too small. It is a private lake but it is open to the other subdivision residents. There is a nice little park on the lake with benches and nice flower gardens.Nestled inside a subdivision it is nice lake to paddle around on. The children on the lake will go to West Bloomfield Schools.
Information on West Bloomfield Lake in West Bloomfield MI
It was hard to find any information on this lake. I searched high and low on the internet, but I got a little information from one of the lake residents. It is approximately 10 acres in size. I would call it more of a large pond than a lake but at some time a builder or developer named the lake. It does not show up on Google Maps even.
West Bloomfield Lake is a small semi-private non all sports lake that lies entirely in West Bloomfield. I say it is a semi private lake because there is a small part that the neighborhood residents can use. It is such a small lake that I did not see any boats on it. It is too small even for a tiny pontoon boat. I would say the lake would be okay for paddleboarding, or kayaking. I do not even know if it is deep enough to swim in. There is a sandy beach at the park but all the times I have been in the sub I have never seen anybody in the water or in the park.
The lake is spring fed. Of course there is no marina on the lake, no ski course, no public DNR boat launch. The lake is almost square in size and there are no canals on the lake. The streets around the lake are paved. The homes sit on lots that range from .3 to .5 acres in size. The lake is really too small for them anyway. I did not notice any swimming platform or anybody swimming on the days I have been there.
