The epitome of waterfront living in Michigan can be found on Upper Straits Lake, in Orchard Lake Village, Michigan and West Bloomfield Township, Michigan.  Upper Straits Lake is an all-sports lake that is an impressive 323 acres, with a maximum depth of 96 feet.  Fortunately for waterfront residents, despite its large size, Upper Straits Lake is not one of Michigan’s public lakes.  Another great feature of Upper Straits Lake is the voluntary Michigan homeowners association.  While it is optional, waterfront residents who choose to join are given access to the lake’s beach facilities.  Upper Straits Lake is one of the best places for waterfront living in Oakland County, Michigan, for those looking for both fun and peace.

Upper Straits lake in Oakland County is one of the more prestigious lakes in the county.  There are some very large and beautiful luxury homes on the lake.  Bob Seger lives on the lake too.  You will find quite a few luxury waterfront estates on the lake.  I sold a home a few years back for $300,000.  The new buyers paid $300,000 just to tear it down and re-build a new home.  So that will tell you that it is a higher priced lake.  You are not going to find a home on the lake for under $300,000 at this time.

There are less and less lake cottages left.  Most have them have been torn down and bigger and newer homes have been rebuilt.  It is what I would call a high end lake.  There are about 210 waterfront homes on Upper Straits Lake.  There is a salom ski course on the lake.
