Strawberry Lake Livingston County MI - Huron River Chain of Lakes

Strawberry Lake in Hamburg is a public all sports lake that is about 257 acres in size.  It is a kettle lake that was formed by glaciers thousands of years ago.  It is about 50 feet deep in the deepest spot.  There is no public access on the lake itself but the Huron River chain of lakes is all public because there is a DNR Launch off McGregor Road on Big Portage Lake.

There are no wake restrictions or laws on when you can go fast on the lake.  Though some of the river channels between the lakes are no wake.  The lake is fed by springs and the Huron River that flows through it.  The children that live on the lake go to Pinckney School System.  The streets around the lake are both paved and gravel. 

There is no public beach on the lake, there are no canals, (thus no canal front homes) and I do not believe that there is a state approved ski course on the lake.

 For example a home on Union Lake in West Bloomfield will be pricier than a home on Long Lake in Commerce for two reasons.  One is that Union Lake is a larger all sports lake and the second reason is that Union Lake is in West Bloomfield and Long Lake is in White Lake Township.   So if a smaller lake will do, then many times you will get more house for your money.  Also another factor in the price of lake homes is sometimes how far or remote the lake is.  The further you are away from metro Detroit the less expensive the home in SOME INSTANCES.  There are some lakes that are geographically less desirable than others and that figures in the cost of the lake home.  Search Michigan lake homes by map.  Zoom in on the lake or area to find your dream lake home.  I hope you enjoy this page about waterfront properties on Strawberry Lake in Hamburg Twp. Depending on what source you use, I am going off state DNR maps Strawberry Lake is the second largest lake on the Portage chain of lakes.  It is between Zukey Lake and Gallager Lake.

There is no DNR on the lake but there is DNR access down the chain of lakes on Big Portage Lake.  The kids that live on the lake go to Pinckney schools.

Strawberry waterfront homes.   Strawberry Lake homes have wells and are hooked up to sewers.  There are only single family homes on the lake.  There are no condominiums on the lake.  Strawberry Lake was a resort lake back in the 1920's.  There were many little 2 and 3 bedroom ranches that were just weekend cottages.  Many of those homes still survive.   Some of them have not been updated much, but there are many that have newer kitchens, new exteriors (vinyl), new windows.  Some of the old cottages have the old pine interiors even.

There is just about every type of Strawberry Lake home styles that you can imagine there are bungalows, cape cods, ranches, colonials, and contemporaries.  Most Strawberry Lake propertieshave between 50' - 100' of lake frontage.  Most of the waterfront homes are close together.  There is not any home on a lot over an acre in size.

I am going to show you the two extremes of lake homes.  There are every type of homes you want on the lake.  Most of the homes are under 2500 square feet with the majority of them 1000 to 2000 square feet.

One of the smallest homes I could find information on was a 1935 wood ranch that was 2 bedroom, 1 bath with no garage.

One of the biggest is a 5000 square foot ranch that was 4 bedroom, 4 bath, 3 car garage with a 365' foot lake frontage on 1.74 acres.  Now this home is not the norm.  Many of Strawberry Lake homes are smaller. 

Out of all these homes 3 of them were Strawberry Lake foreclosures.   Since 2008 the number of foreclosures has slowly gone done and I expect that trend to continue.

 Where to use these different types of Nautical Knots

Figure Eight Bend

The figure-eight knot has several uses, including connecting two ropes to make a longer line or making a "stopper" knot in a single line in order to prevent the line from slipping through a hole or a gap in a block or a cleat.

Handy for tying down a bulky load or tying a boat to a mooring post, the round turn and two half hitches is versatile. It is a secure knot that does not jam and is easy to undo.
