Parke Lake homes Independence MI

You will find that most of the homes on the lake are like regular homes.  Many times lake homes have been added on to over the years.  Sometimes the home owners just added on the easiest way possible with no thoughts of layouts and whether the floor plan made sense. I call these crazy layout houses More-on houses.  The owners just kept adding more on.  You will not find homes like that on Parke Lake.

The lake really does not have small older lake cottages.  The lakefront homes were mainly built after 1959.  Like I said the homes are just normal homes.  You will find the same home styles like you find in most cities.  The lake has colonials, ranches, split level homes, and contemporary homes. They range in size from 1400 square foot to over 4200 square foot.  You will find that some of the lake homes sit on bigger lots.  Some well over an acre.  If you are looking for some privacy and space Parke Lake homes may be for you.

 The lake homes have two to four bathrooms, three to five bedrooms, two to four car garages.  Some homes have basements so do not.  The homes are mainly well and sewer though there are a few homes that have city water or a septic system.  There are about 41 homes on the lake.  I hope this give you an idea of what the waterfront homes are like.

The lake lies in the Village of Clarkston but part of the lake lies in Independence Township.

All within a short walk to downtown Clarkston shops, restaurants, schools, and farmers market.  This is what makes living on Parke Lake even better.  You have the fun of living on the lake and yet be able to take a short walk into town to have dinner.

There are many lakes near Clarkston but none as close to Downtown as Parke Lake.  Deer Lake is close but not as close.  You will see that Clarkston’s best kept secret is Parke Lake.  Parke Lake is a private, 26-acre (some say 23 acres) no wake lake with great fishing & much more.  You do not have noisy power boats, or kids going crazy on jet skiis on this lake.  Just peace and quiet.  You can swim, paddle board, or kayak without fear of getting run over by a fast boat. 

There are no islands, no canals on the lake, no marina, nor any condominiums on the lake.  Because the lake is so small and it a no wake lake it stands to reason there is no ski course on the lake.  The streets around the lake are mainly paved though one is gravel. 

It's a small lake, more of a large pond. The lake is fed by the Clinton River.  The children that live on the lake go to Clarkston schools.  Even if it was an all sports lake it is not big enough to tube or waterski.  Way too small of a lake.  It is a private lake so only the lake residents can fish, kayak, or swim on the lake.  The is no public access, no public beach, or State DNR boat launch.           

As a lake home buyer it is key to share with your realtor what you want to do on the lake.  Many lake home buyers want all sports lakes however that is not always the case.  I have helped lake home buyers buy on private lakes, public lakes, electric motor only lakes, all sports lakes, and no motor lakes.  It is all about what you want in lake.  What will you and your family do on the lake?  I know some people that never even buy a boat.  They are very content to just live on the lake and enjoy the calming effect of water.  Some do not even care to swim, or kayak on the lake.  When lake home buyers want to be on an all sports lake they are more likely to be boaters and water sports enthusiasts.
