Long Lake Orion MI 

Long Lake in Lake Orion (Orion Township) is a semi private all sports lake that is 94 acres in size. The lake lies entirely in Orion Township. The source of the water for the lake comes from two sources.  It is spring fed and fed by a small stream.  The roads around the lake are both paved and gravel.

There are no islands on the lake and there is one canal on the lake.  It is an elliptical shaped lake.  There is no state approved water ski course and there are no condominiums on the lake.

I do not know the depth of the lake but one source says the deepest spot is 14 feet deep.  I am unsure on this.  The children on the lake go to Lake Orion Schools.  There is no public DNR launch but several subdivions on the lake have beach access sites.  Also Bunny Run Country Club has beach and boat launch access to the lake.  Read more about it below.

Long Lake is a 94 acre semi private all sports lake in Lake Orion MI.  It is just west of the smaller Bunny Run Lake.  I would say it is a semi private lake because it is a private lake yet Bunny Run Country Club has a beach and allows it's members to launch a boat from the Country Club property.    Long Lake shape is just like the name says, it is long and kind of skinny.  The long part runs east to west just to the east of M-24 and north of the downtown area of Lake Orion. About one third of the eastern edge of the lake lies in the Bunny Run sub area. Bunny Run Subdivision is a mix of older and newer homes and if you live in Bunny Run you have privileges on Long Lake. 

Long Lake Homes Orion MI

Homes on Long Lake are a wide range of sizes.  The range in size from a 600 square foot small cottage to over 4000 square foot in size. There is a subdivision on the south side of the lake that have newer built larger colonial homes.  On the west end of the lake is a new subdivision called the Shores of Long Lake. Since this is a much newer subdivision. The off the lake homes in the Shores of Long Lake and the Village by the Shores have privileges on Long Lake within their own sub.

The homes have one to five bedrooms, one to four bedrooms, some have no garages and some lake homes have up to three and half car garages.  The lakefront homes have brick, wood, vinyl, and stone exteriors.  Some Long Lake waterfront homes have no basements because they are at lake level, but some homes have basements and some are walkout basements. The homes were built from the years of 1920 to present day.  The three main types of homes on the lake are ranch, colonials, and contemporary homes.

The homes are both on septic and sewer.  It depends on where you live on the lake.  It is the same way with well and muncipal water.  The are lake lots with homes on them that are over an acre on lake.  There are a few homes that are one, two, and three acres in size.  So you can find just about any size, type, and style of lake home on Long Lake in Orion Township.

Bunny Run Country Club

Bunny Run Country Club has a club house on the east end of the lake and a large beach that is private to subdivision residents.  Here is more information about Bunny Run Country Club

Bunny Run Country Club offers a variety of services for its members (residents living in the Bunny Run Subdivision are eligible to be members.  You must have the verbage "Bunny Run Country Club", or one of the "Annexes" listed on your property description to be eligible) including:

• Summer access to a large private sandy beach on the east shore of Long Lake.
• Private lake view picnic area, a small playground for children, a sand volleyball court, a small basketball court, and horseshoe pits.
• Long Lake boat stall rentals
• Long Lake boat access
• Ability to bring friends (who are not residents of the Bunny Run Subdivision) to the club.
• Spacious club house access which offers air hockey, ping pong, and other games.
• Club house rental for meetings, family parties, receptions, and other events.
• Special annual neighborhood club events such as the:
  - Easter Egg Hunt
  - Fourth of July Beach Party
  - Halloween Party
  - Corn Roast

With M-24 right next door to the lake the road makes any drive quicker whether you are going north or south.  When you live on Long Lake will be conveniently located near Bald Mountain State Park, expressways, shopping, and downtown Lake Orion.  It is just a short drive down to I-75 the will connect you to other expressways and take you anywhere in Metro Detroit.
