You will find just about any type of home on Lake Fenton. There are also some condominiums on Lake Fenton. There are still some small lake cottages as small as 575 square foot. Then you will have big luxury Lake Fenton lake estates that can range from 4500 square feet to over 8500 square feet. You have home styles ranging from ranches, colonials, cape cods, contemporary, split levels, bungalows, and even a Victorian home. You will find lake homes of all sizes, ages, and styles on Lake Fenton. The lake homes were built from the 1900's to the present day.
There are about 900 tax parcels (the majority of parcels have homes on the lake) on the 15 miles of shore line. There are some condos on the lake. Lake Fenton also has Case’s Island, a private island with 35 cottages. Since there is no road to the island, you can only access it by boat.
Here are the basic features of lakefront homes on Lake Fenton in Fenton Township. The homes have one to five and a half bathrooms and two to seven bedrooms.
Some of the waterfront homes have no garages all the way up to 6+ car garages. The homes are on well or either municipal water. Some of the lake houses have sewers or septic systems. The lots that Lake Fenton homes sit on vary greatly. There are some homes that are close together and there are some homes that sit on property over an acres in size.

Lake Fenton is a public all sports lake that is about 845 acres in size. It is a big spring fed lake with 18 acres of islands including Cases's Island and it has a State of Michigan DNR boat launch. Lake Fenton is a spring-fed “kettle lake,” meaning it was formed after a glacier melted thousands of years ago. Many of Michigan's inland lakes are kettle lakes, though in South East Michigan you will find some man made lakes.
Fenton Township's Mantawauka Park is open to the public and includes a gazebo, picnic tables, playscape and swimming beach on Lake Fenton. It is located behind the Fenton Township Civic Community Center located at 12060 Mantawauka Drive, Fenton, MI 48430.
There is about 15 miles of shoreline. The lake is 95-feet deep at the lowest point, and on average, 21 feet. It is the largest lake in Genessee County at 845 acres. Years ago Lake Fenton used to be called Long Lake, (it is about 3 miles long from one end to the other), as it stretches from North Long Lake Road to South Long Lake Road.
Skipper Buds Marina is on Lake Fenton at 14016 Fenton Road in Fenton, MI 48430. They rent dock space but I do not believe they have gas. I am unsure if there is a state approved water ski course. The streets around the lake are paved. There are a few canals on the lake. The children on the lake go to Fenton schools or Lake Fenton schools.

There is one wake restriction on Lake Fenton. Within, and for a distance of 200 feet either side of, the following described waters of Lake Fenton and the canals and channels connected thereto, it is unlawful for the operator of a vessel to exceed a slow-no wake speed; southerly from a line drawn from a point where Enid street, as extended, intersects the water's edge; thence northeasterly to the nearest opposite shore; thence northerly from a point where Haddon street, as extended, intersects the water's edge; thence easterly to the nearest opposite shore, section 13, T5N, R6E, Fenton township, Genesee county.

The lake's name was changed to Long Lake in 1850, and a post office with that name opened on March 6, 1851. The lake was subsequently renamed "Lake Fenton",

Case Island was named after the first home owner on the island Charlie Case. Everything has to be brought over by bought. It is some what isolated. Detroit’s Purple Gang supposedly used the island for a hiding place in the 1920s.

On the waters of lake Fenton, sections 2, 11, 13, 14 and 23, T5N, R6E, Fenton township and the city of Fenton, Genesee county, except those portions already regulated by a slow--no wake rule it is unlawful, at any time, to operate a vessel in excess of 45 miles per hour (72 kilometers per hour).
Striped, spotted, white and large and small mouth bass, crappie, walleye and lake trout are all present. Lake Fenton draws avid fishers when there’s ice, and when it’s warm out. The DNR usually drops 20,000 to 30,000 walleye annually to maintain the fishing stock.

When the Venetian Nights Festival kicks off in July, homeowners around Lake Fenton light up their boats and yards with fun themes related to lake living
the LFPOA has taken responsibility for holding the annual Lake Fenton fireworks. The display will be held from barges on the water in front of the Fenton Township hall. During the winter, there is a polar plunge, from which proceeds are donated to support the Special Olympics in Michigan.
This lake is situated east of Torrey Road, west of Fenton Road and south of Thompson Road. Most of the lake lies inside Fenton Township — about a half-mile along the southern shore is in the city of Fenton. From the center of the Lake Fenton, it is 3.5 miles south to the center of Fenton city, and 12 miles north to downtown Flint, via Fenton Road. It is bordered to the south by the city of Fenton, to the north by Mundy Township, to the east by Holly Township and the west by the remaining part of Fenton Township.
Boaters may launch their watercraft at the DNR site off Grove Park Road.
