Clear Lake in Oakland County is about 32.5 acres in size.  The lake actually lies in Oxford Township about a mile west of downtown Oxford.  It is a public all sports lake that is about 51 feet deep in the deepest spot.  There are two deep holes on the lake one is 51 feet deep and then the second hole is 45 feet deep.  Clear Lake itself does not have a public launch on it, but Clear Lake attaches to Squaw Lake that has a public DNR Launch.  It is a big public launch with 50 parking spaces for cars & tboat trailers.  The residents of Stringy Lakes do not like that it is that big.  

There is no public beach, no marina, and no state approved water ski course on Clear Lake or any of the Stringy Lakes.  The children that live on the lake go to Oxford Schools which is an excellent school sytem.  There are only single family residences on the lake.  There are no condomiiniums or duplexes on the lake.  Clear Lake and the Stringy Chain of lakes are fed by Paint Creek and spring fed.  It is part of Clinton River Watershed.  The streets around the lake are paved and one is gravel.

Stringy Lakes Chain is located in the upper part of the Paint Creek subwatershed of the Clinton River Watershed. The headwater of the tributary stream originates just north of the Oakland County border in Lapeer County.  Clear Lake is about a mile from downtown Oxford.  Clear Lake is part of of the Stringy chain of Lakes.  The other lakes are Squaw Lake, Tan Lake, Long Lake, Spring Lake, and Cedar Lake.  Michelson Lake is also nearby.

None of the lakes in the Stringy chain of lakes are very large.  Sure you can tube and water ski but these lakes are not for anybody that wants a large lake or wants to do a lot of water sports.  They are nice lakes but just not that large.  The largest lake in the String Lake chain is only 34.5 acres.  There are Bluegill, Rock Bass, Perch, Pumkinsee, Pike, small mouth bass, and Bullhead.  Additionally, the culvert that connects Clear Lake and Long lake is low, limiting the size of boats that can access the other three lakes.
