Charlick Lake is a private all sports lake that is only about 50 acres in size and that even includes an island. It's not a big all sports lake. If you are looking to tube, surf, water ski, or wake board a lot then Charlick Lake really isn't the lake for you.
But if you are looking for a small lake that you can kayak, paddle board, fish and swim....then a Charlick Lake home may be for you. That is one of the best benefits of finding a waterfront home in Oakland County. The ease of getting there and the limited time it will take. No four hour rides up north, or being stuck in holiday traffic. You can get back and forth to work and be on the lake every weekend. Or like most Charlick Lake home owners live on the lake all year round. There really are no cottages on the lake. Buying a lakefront home in Metro Detroit suburbs makes sense. All the homes are on well and septic as sewers have not come to that area yet. There are no canals on the lake and all of the lots on the lake are smaller than an acre. Charlick lake is too small to have a water ski course. There are only single family homes on the lake. There are no condos on the lake. Charlick Lake lies completely in Highland Twp.
It's a nice little neighborhood. You are going to get a subdivision feel. The streets are paved and there are no dumpy unmaintained homes on the lake. Many lake home buyers sometimes get nervous when the area and around the lake have older small cottages or all sorts of junk (ie old boats, old cars) around the houses. You are going to be pleasantly surprised about Charlick Lake's homes and neighborhood.

Charlick Lake front homes were built in the 1960's-1970's. There are smaller homes on the lake fron 1500-2000 square feet at the most. The roads are paved around the lake and in the subdivision. The majority of Charlick Lake homes are ranches and split level homes. Though there are cape cods and colonial style homes.
You are not going to find tiny lots on the lake. Unlike many Oakland County Michigan Lakes there is a little more space between the homes. Charlick Lake homes sit on properties that I would say have 80 - 100 foot of frontage on the lake. Charlick Lake homes are like living in a subdivision yet a little rural. You are probably 10 - 15 minutes from Milford. The lake homes are level with the lake. No steep hills on the lake.
Children that live on the lake attend Huron Valley Schools.
Charlick Lake Highland Townshp Information
The lake is 18 foot deep in the deepest spot. Like I said there is no public access, DNR Launch, or any beach on the lake that is open to the public. There is a wake restriction on the lake. It is an all sports lake but you cannot create a wake on the U- shaped part of the lake around the island.
Charlick Lake is spring fed. They also have an auxillary well pump to keep Charlick lake level up during the hot dry summer months. The roads around the lake are paved.
Charlick Lake Highland Michigan a large island in the middle. The lake consists mostly of pontoons and paddle boats. If you picture the lake it looks like a donut - The large island is the donut hole. The area shaped like a U behind the island is all no wake, leaving a small area to ski or jet ski.
The average depth is 6 foot and there is one deep hole that is 15' - 18' deep. There is a neighborhood association beach/out lot so the neighborhood residents can use the beach. The lake has a sandy bottom and the lake association pays for weed control in the lake.
Charlick Lake is named for L. J. Charlick who owned surrounding property in the in 1930's.
