Like so many lakes in Livingston County and Oakland County you will find some of the old lake cottages from the 1920's and 1930's still on Bennett Lake. You will find old homes next to newer homes. Big newer homes next to the small 600 - 900 square foot cottages. However there are quite a few newer homes on the lake. You will find a wide range of homes for sale including smaller affordable ranch homes all the way to large luxury lakefront homes helps give lake home buyers a wide choice of home styles, ages, and sizes. Here is the basic features of Bennett Lake homes.
The lake home styles are ranches, cape cods, colonials, bungalows, split levels, and contemporaries. They have one to five bedrooms, and one to five bathrooms. There are some old homes from the 1920's and as early as 1917 up to the present day. Most of the homes were built after the 1970's. There are no condominiums on Bennett Lake in Deerfield Township.
The waterfront homes range from 680 square feet to over 4000 square feet. Most of the homes have wells. Some are on sewers and there are still a few that have septic systems. The lake houses have no garages up to 5 car garages. Though they mainly have 2 & 3 car garages. Most Bennett Lake homes have basements though there are homes that are on crawl spaces. There are homes on lots over an acre on lake. There are a couple of homes that are 9.31 acres and 24 acres
The lake lies within the boundaries of the Shiawassee River watershed and North Ore Creek sub-watershed. North Ore Creek flows northerly entering Bennett Lake at the southeast shore, then exits to the north, flowing into Lobdell Lake and eventually discharging to the Shiawassee River.

Bennett Lake is a public all sports lake that is 150 acres in size. I say public lake because it connects to Lobdell Lake and there is a public DNR launch on Lobdell Lake. There is about 30 parking spots for boats and trailers at the boat launch. There is no marina, no public beach, and no state approved water ski course on the lake. There is a very area on the lake that is over 50 feet deep. The deepest spot is 58 feet deep.
Bennett Lake is fed by Lobdell Lake, Ore Creek and is also spring fed. The school district for the lake is Linden Schools. The streets around the lake are paved & gravel. There are a few canals on the lake. Of course there are the canals that go to Lobdell Lake and Hosington Lake but there are also some that go through the wetlands too.
Bennett Lake is part of a three chain of lakes, located just south of Lobdell Lake. The two lakes near Fenton are attached by a channel that runs under Bennett Lake Rd. From Bennett Lake you can get to Hoisington Lake too via a channel. Buying a house on a chain of lakes is an added bonus because you have so much more to explore and see when you have multiple lakes. What is even nicer about the Lobdell chain of lakes is there is a bar/ restaurant on the channel between Lobdell Lake and Bennett Lake. Plus there is a party store on Lobdell Lake that you can pick up all your necessities and hot food too. That is so nice when you are on the boat and do not want to go home and cook.
There are two islands on Bennett Lake. There is no public access on the lake, but boating access (DNR launch site) is available through Lobdell Lake to the north. It adds about 30 boats to the three lakes which is not bad. The east end of the lake is very natural with wetlands. There are some very beautiful larger homes on some of the canals through the wetlands.

Bennett Lake is extremely popular for recreational use and maintains a very good reputation for largemouth bass,
northern pike, bluegill, black crappie, and pumpkinseed sunfish. Numerous largemouth bass angling
tournaments occur annually and often combine catches from both Lobdell and Bennett lakes. Bottom composition of the lake varies from sand, marl, organic peat and gravel. There's a marsh on the east end of the lake, and a small channel to Hoisington Lake.
The lake is named after William Bennett, who settled, along with his family, along the west shore of North Ore Creek.
Bennett Lake lies east of Argentine Rd, South of Bennett Lake Road, and west of US-23. The lake lies in both Livingston County and Genessee County in Michigan. Just a small part of a channel lies in Genessee County. Basically the whole lake lies in Livingston County. It also lies in multiple communities, Deerfield Township, Tyrone Township, Fenton, and Linden. It is located just south of Lobdell Lake
The local lake residents say the fishing is good. They have not stocked the lake in some years. Here is a list of the fish they collected back in the last fish survey back in 2006.
